Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Danae is a passionate mental health counselor who believes in living out your one wild and precious life. Trained in various person-centered and evidence-based practices, Danae considers herself a general talk therapist who can pull from multiple models and interventions to aid your therapy experience. Danae works with youth 12 and up, couples, and families. Danae graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and obtained her Master’s in Psychology Counseling from Saybrook University. Having a wide range of experiences working with individuals in the helping fields, both in community and private settings, adds to the breadth of issues and concerns Danae can help with.
In her off time, Danae enjoys being with family, is an avid reader and audiobook listener, an excellent cook, sometimes does yoga, is a winter sports participant, boats (fast and slow), is a backpacker, concert goer, word maker upper, traveler and novice violin player.

Supervision

Danae Armstrong is an approved supervisor for associate licensure counselors in Washington state.
Local Beacon Counseling offers supervision with billing and practice setup services. Danae provides some insurance billing under her credentials and referrals when appropriate. Think of this as a way to get started in private practice with lots of support and consultation.
When you finish your licensing hours, you are welcome to stay on with Local Beacon Counseling as a contractor and be credentialed with our group insurance contracts or move on having the skills to have your own group or practice. We want you to do what is best for you and help you get there!
Local Beacon Counseling is looking for clinicians who are excited to be in the field, provide reliable services, and want to be part of a group community. We offer flexible meeting times and regular consult meetings with other group members.
Danae has dedicated her entire career to working in the helping fields. She completed her graduate school internship working with children and families. After that, she worked in private practice and community mental health (sometimes simultaneously) to complete her licensing hours and eventually became a supervisor. She became a mental health counselor in 2012. Danae has training in leadership, supervision, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, lifespan integration, emotional freedom technique, and substance abuse. Danae’s recent training has been on ADHD in women, varying issues for the LGBTQ population, and expressive arts. In addition, Danae has extensive knowledge of billing and credentialing practices and can help providers who want to better understand how to do these things for themselves or even just how these things work!
